411: Chamillionaire travels to Europe almost as often as a suburban New Yorker goes to Harlem or Brooklyn. They love him over there, and Cham is trying to strike while he's hot. So instead of staying at home and recording his new album, Cham is on tour ... and recording his new album. The Ultimate Victory is due March 27.
"The label is asking the same question," he answered when asked how he's finding time to record his sophomore major-label effort amid the tour. "But I've recorded part of the album in London. ... It's a studio everywhere on the planet. You don't have to be in Houston."
Cham has proven his point by not only recording a bulk of The Ultimate Victory, but also tracking his next street CD, Mixtape Messiah 2. You remember that the first one came out almost three years ago? Well, Cham apologizes to the fans for taking so long — but he's been well, you know, busy going platinum with his major-label debut, The Sound of Revenge; winning VMAs and BET Hip-Hop Awards; and guest-appearing on songs with people like Ciara and Tupac. (Cham's also been busy with his Chamillitary label, to which he just signed San Antonio rapper MC Famous — formerly Lil' Ken.)
"They can't blame it on the mind, they have to blame it on the grind," Cham said. "When you have your own company and you're having success, it's a lot that gets thrown on your plate. I respect the whole mixtape circuit — I'll never turn away from it. But all the things that were coming up in my life were taking me away from it. I just figured out a way I could still feed the audience and do what I'm doing."
Although Cham fully expects bootleggers to be selling his mixtape to a mom-and-pop store or on the street near you, he's releasing it for free via his Web site, Chamillionaire.com, on Christmas Eve morning.
"I could make a million dollars off that mixtape, but I'mma give it to them for free," Cham said. "I know the fans will appreciate it when it drops. ... The fans have been waiting for a while. I want the fans just to have it. I'm not saying I'm always gonna do that, but this time, yeah."

But it wasn't about that at first. I had to get in there first. I didn't want to lose people. Back in the day people used to say me and Paul Wall used to only talk about ballin' and materialistic stuff. Then when we started changing, then they wanted to complain again. It's all about proving people wrong. I know where I can go lyrically. I want to show people a little bit."

2 officers shot in Long Beach ,Cali
LONG BEACH - A rookie police officer was shot four times in the throat and his training partner was shot in the head in a Friday afternoon gunbattle following a traffic stop on a bustling downtown street.
An army of Long Beach police officers descended on the area at Long Beach Boulevard between Sixth Street and Broadway looking for a suspect in an SUV after the shots were fired at about 1:20 p.m.
The search continued late Friday, with officers locating the suspect's vehicle outside an apartment complex in the 300 block of Elm Avenue at about 8:30 p.m., said Lt. David Cannan.
SWAT officers were preparing to enter the complex and were evacuating residents in and around the building at 9:45 p.m., he said.
Just before midnight, SWAT was still staging and waiting for the command to enter the building, Cannan said.
Officer Jason Evans said Saturday morning that, as of 7:45 a.m., the wounded officers were still stable and the suspect was still outstanding.
More than 100 officers searched a grid from Seventh Street to Ocean Boulevard and from Long Beach Boulevard to Atlantic Avenue before the vehicle was found.

as many residents were shopping at a nearby Wal-Mart and the Farmer's Market was buzzing with activity.
Within minutes of the shooting, police were cordoning off stretches of Long Beach Boulevard while rumors floated amid a milling crowd.
An Amber alert was issued at 4 p.m. for a white 1998 Nissan Pathfinder with the license plate 4AVN056 believed to be involved in the shooting.
Police described the suspect as a male Hispanic or Filipino in his late 20s or early 30s, 5
foot 7 inches to 5 foot 9 inches tall and 210 to 230 pounds. He was also described as having short hair or a shaved head, and tattoos on both arms.
"This is a tough day for Long Beach," Mayor Bob Foster said at an evening news conference.
The injured officers, whose names police asked be withheld until they could notify all of the relatives, some of whom live out-of-state, were taken by fellow officers to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. They were listed in critical condition. As the afternoon wore on, however, family and friends received some good news.
The rookie, who graduated three weeks ago from the Police Academy, survived a two-hour-plus surgery and doctors upgraded his prognosis, giving him a 60 to 70 percent chance of survival, police said.
The young officer crashed twice while in surgery and flat-lined for a full minute but was brought back from the brink of death by the hospital's emergency team, police said.

They then offered the maid to six of their friends who raped her at a second camp before delivering her to seven others who gang-raped her at a third camp.
She was taken to hospital by Philippine consular officials, the paper said. The embassy was not immediately available for comment.
Police have detained 14 suspects so far - 13 Kuwaitis and one Iraqi, Al-Watan said. A manhunt is continuing for three other Kuwaitis.

Man Jailed For Murder, Tracks Down Real Killer Behind Bars
Jailed for murder, he tracked down real killer from behind prison bars

A convicted murderer proved his innocence by investigating his own case from behind bars at a maximum-security prison and identifying the real killer. Roy Brown appeared before a judge last night to ask for a pardon after 16 years in jail for a crime he had proved conclusively that he did not commit.
Brown had always protested his innocence, denying that he stabbed and strangled a female social worker to death at a farmhouse in upstate New York in 1991, and he managed to investigate and solve the crime from his prison cell. Five days after he wrote a letter to the local fireman he had identified as the real murderer, the man killed himself by lying in front of an oncoming train.
“Witnesses can commit perjury, judges can be fooled and juries can make mistakes,” wrote Brown. “When it comes to DNA testing, there’s no mistakes. DNA is God’s creation and God makes no mistakes.”
Yesterday he petitioned a judge for his freedom after DNA taken from bite marks on the victim’s night shirt confirmed his theory of the crime.
The judge, Peter Corning, who presided over the original trial and retires on December 31, last night delayed his decision until a full hearing on January 22.
Lawyers from the Innocence Project, a university-based law centre that argued his case, were pushing for his immediate release. He is suffering from a liver disease and awaiting a transplant.
“Roy wrote to us, like thousands do every year,” said Eric Ferrero, of the Innocence Project, which has overturned 188 convictions with DNA evidence. “What is unusual is somebody sitting in his prison cell solving the case. This is the first time we have seen that.”
The naked body of Sabina Kulakowski was found across the road from her home in the town of Aurelius in the early hours of May 23, 1991, when firemen responded to an arson blaze at the farmhouse.
The wounds — including bite marks on her red nightshirt found nearby — suggested that Ms Kulakowski, 49, had put up a struggle. The murder appeared highly personal because there was no evidence of rape or burglary.
Two days later Brown, who made a living selling magazine subscriptions in Syracuse, 30 miles away, was charged with her murder. He had been released from prison six days before the crime after serving an eight-month sentence for making threatening calls to a social worker, whose agency he blamed for ordering his daughter, aged 17, into foster care.
He was convicted of the killing on the basis of expert testimony linking him to bite marks on Ms Kulakowski’s body, even though they showed indentations from six upper teeth and Brown had only four.
Sentenced to a minimum of 25 years in jail, it took Brown 13 years and three failed appeals to uncover evidence pointing to the true murderer — and then only because of another fire. When his trial records were destroyed at a blaze at his stepfather’s house in 2003, he filed a freedom of information request for copies.
Among the documents were statements that he had not seen before, implicating a local volunteer fireman, Barry Bench. Unlike Brown, Bench knew Ms Kulakowski well because his older brother, Ronald, had dated her for 17 years. He and Ms Kulakowski had lived together at the farmhouse and relatives said that Barry Bench resented that she stayed there after the couple separated in 1991.
Among the four sworn affidavits released to Brown was a statement by Tamara Eckstadt, Bench’s long-time girlfriend and the mother of his child. She told police that Bench, already subject to a domestic protection order, got into violent row with her at about 5pm on the evening before the murder and went to a local bar. He returned home drunk between 1.30am and 1.45am — more than an hour after leaving the bar. He washed his face and arms and then turned off his fire monitor before going to bed, something he seldom did.
He was roused and summoned to fight the fire at the farmhouse by repeated calls to his home phone. At the scene, he wandered in the direction of where the body was found.
After his suicide, Bench’s 19-year-old daughter, Katherine Eckstadt, provided a private investigator with a DNA sample. A convicted murderer proved his innocence by investigating his own case from behind bars at a maximum-security prison and identifying the real killer. Roy Brown appeared before a judge last night to ask for a pardon after 16 years in jail for a crime he had proved conclusively that he did not commit.
Brown had always protested his innocence, denying that he stabbed and strangled a female social worker to death at a farmhouse in upstate New York in 1991, and he managed to investigate and solve the crime from his prison cell. Five days after he wrote a letter to the local fireman he had identified as the real murderer, the man killed himself by lying in front of an oncoming train.
“Witnesses can commit perjury, judges can be fooled and juries can make mistakes,” wrote Brown. “When it comes to DNA testing, there’s no mistakes. DNA is God’s creation and God makes no mistakes.”
Yesterday he petitioned a judge for his freedom after DNA taken from bite marks on the victim’s night shirt confirmed his theory of the crime.
The judge, Peter Corning, who presided over the original trial and retires on December 31, last night delayed his decision until a full hearing on January 22.
Lawyers from the Innocence Project, a university-based law centre that argued his case, were pushing for his immediate release. He is suffering from a liver disease and awaiting a transplant.
“Roy wrote to us, like thousands do every year,” said Eric Ferrero, of the Innocence Project, which has overturned 188 convictions with DNA evidence. “What is unusual is somebody sitting in his prison cell solving the case. This is the first time we have seen that.”
The naked body of Sabina Kulakowski was found across the road from her home in the town of Aurelius in the early hours of May 23, 1991, when firemen responded to an arson blaze at the farmhouse.
The wounds — including bite marks on her red nightshirt found nearby — suggested that Ms Kulakowski, 49, had put up a struggle. The murder appeared highly personal because there was no evidence of rape or burglary.
Two days later Brown, who made a living selling magazine subscriptions in Syracuse, 30 miles away, was charged with her murder. He had been released from prison six days before the crime after serving an eight-month sentence for making threatening calls to a social worker, whose agency he blamed for ordering his daughter, aged 17, into foster care.
He was convicted of the killing on the basis of expert testimony linking him to bite marks on Ms Kulakowski’s body, even though they showed indentations from six upper teeth and Brown had only four.
Sentenced to a minimum of 25 years in jail, it took Brown 13 years and three failed appeals to uncover evidence pointing to the true murderer — and then only because of another fire. When his trial records were destroyed at a blaze at his stepfather’s house in 2003, he filed a freedom of information request for copies.
Among the documents were statements that he had not seen before, implicating a local volunteer fireman, Barry Bench. Unlike Brown, Bench knew Ms Kulakowski well because his older brother, Ronald, had dated her for 17 years. He and Ms Kulakowski had lived together at the farmhouse and relatives said that Barry Bench resented that she stayed there after the couple separated in 1991.
Among the four sworn affidavits released to Brown was a statement by Tamara Eckstadt, Bench’s long-time girlfriend and the mother of his child. She told police that Bench, already subject to a domestic protection order, got into violent row with her at about 5pm on the evening before the murder and went to a local bar. He returned home drunk between 1.30am and 1.45am — more than an hour after leaving the bar. He washed his face and arms and then turned off his fire monitor before going to bed, something he seldom did.
He was roused and summoned to fight the fire at the farmhouse by repeated calls to his home phone. At the scene, he wandered in the direction of where the body was found.
After his suicide, Bench’s 19-year-old daughter, Katherine Eckstadt, provided a private investigator with a DNA sample. It found that while fewer teens overall drank alcohol or used illegal drugs in the last year, a small but growing number were popping prescription painkillers like OxyContin and Vicodin and stimulants like Ritalin.
As many as one in every 14 high school seniors said they used cold medicine “fairly recently” to get high, the study found.
It was the first year that the government tracked the frequency of teens who reported getting high from over-the-counter medicine for coughs and colds.
“It’s bad that kids are buying cough syrup and using it this way — it’s not good for them,” said John P. Walters, director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.

SRC Records CEO Steve Rifkind recently announced that he has reunited with the Wu-Tang Clan for a new album.
Wu-Tang, who first came to prominence via Rifkind's now-defunct Loud Records, have not released a group album since 2001. During their six-year hiatus, all nine members of the New York rap collective have released solo albums.
The group's most infamous member, ODB (born Russell Tyrone Jones), died in 2004 from an accidental overdose while recording his third solo project.
"I just got off the phone with Divine and RZA from Wu-Tang, we are coming back, we are joining forces for one album, coming up in 2007," said Rifkind via a video on his blog, thelabel.blog.com. "I don't know what the name of the album is but we are back, its official. Wu-Tang and Steve Rifkind are back together."

In the middle of Joshua Bush's forehead, two inches above his eyes, lies the evidence that prosecutors say could send the teenager to prison for attempted murder: a 9 mm bullet, lodged just under the skin.
Prosecutors say it will prove that Bush, 17, tried to kill the owner of a used-car lot after a robbery in July. And they have obtained a search warrant to extract the slug.
But Bush and his lawyer are fighting the removal, in a legal and medical oddity that raises questions about patient privacy and how far the government can go to solve crimes without running afoul of the constitutional protection against unreasonable searches and seizures.
"It's unfortunate this arguably important piece of evidence is in a place where it can't be easily retrieved," said Seth Chandler, a professor at the University of Houston Law Center. "You have to balance our desire to convict the guilty against the government not poking around our bodies on a supposition."
Investigators say that Bush was part of a group of gang members who broke into a used car lot and tried to steal vehicles. According to police, Bush tried to shoot businessman Alan Olive, and when Olive returned fire, a bullet struck the teenager and borrowed into the soft, fatty tissue of his forehead.
Prosecutor Ramon Rodriguez said gang members who took part in the robbery identified Bush as one of those involved. When he was questioned about a week later, Bush admitted taking part in the robbery but not the shooting, police said.
"The officers noticed the guy looks like hell. One of his eyes is black and he has a big old knot on his forehead," Rodriguez said. "He tells police he got hurt playing basketball."
A few days later, Bush went to the hospital and told doctors he had been hit by a stray bullet as he sat on a couch in an apartment.
"Officers started putting events together," Rodriguez said.
A judge took the unusual step of issuing a search warrant to retrieve the bullet from Bush's head in October.
But a Beaumont doctor determined that small pieces of bone were growing around the slug, and he did not have the proper tools in the emergency room to do it. The doctor said that removal would require surgery under general anesthesia and that no operating rooms were available.
Police then obtained a second search warrant and scheduled the operation for last week at the University of Texas Medical Branch hospital in Galveston. It was postponed again, however, after the hospital decided not to participate for reasons it would not discuss.
Prosecutors said they continue to look for a doctor or hospital willing to remove the bullet.
All sides agree that removing the bullet would not be life-threatening. But Bush's family and attorney say it would be a violation of the teenager's civil rights and set a dangerous precedent.
"When the medical profession divorces itself from its own responsibility and makes itself an arm of the state, it's a dangerous path," said Rife Kimler, Bush's lawyer.
The used car lot owner, Olive, told police that after officers had left the scene following the robbery and he began cleaning up, a man appeared in a nearby alley and threatened to kill him if he helped authorities in their investigation. The man fired at Olive and a shootout followed.
"I just can't believe I missed him at that distance," Olive, a competitive pistol shooter, said in court papers. Olive told authorities he never saw the man's face in the dark alley.
Bush is in jail on charges related to the robbery, but not the shooting.

"We know he's not a criminal," she said. "He's a good kid."

"It truly is a moral quandary," Caplan said. "Doctors are caught between wanting to help solve crimes and their responsibility to patients' rights to refuse a procedure."

LOS ANGELES - A woman mistakenly put her 1-month-old grandson through an X-ray machine at Los Angeles International Airport, authorities said.
A startled security worker noticed the shape of a child on the carry-on baggage screening monitor and immediately pulled him out, the Los Angeles Times reported for a story in Wednesday's editions.
The infant was taken to a local hospital, where doctors determined he did not receive a dangerous dose of radiation.
"This was an innocent mistake by an obviously inexperienced traveler," said Paul Haney, deputy executive director of airports and security for the city's airport agency.
The incident happened early Saturday, airport officials said.
Haney said in 1988, an infant in a car seat went through an X-ray machine at the Los Angeles airport.

Here is what I’m talking about. Whenever you criticize one of today’s “hot” artists about their abilities you’re met with the same excuse every time. Criticize Game for his redundant droning on about lowriders, point out Young Jeezy is a terrible rapper blessed with great beats, or say that Yung Joc is, well, just flat out wack. The argument will go something like this;
“fu*k that, you’re just a hater. Not everyone is gonna spit lyrics like Nas or Lupe. He just do what he do, he ain’t gonna spit some political or conscious raps. He lived his life and just tells us how it is, its his culture, how you gonna criticize for that. fu*k you hater.”
Now, I’ll admit this argument does have some validity. Anyone who listens to a Young Jeezy album expecting to be enlightened or challenged, and criticizes the album when they aren’t, is being unrealistic and lacking perspective. Now, does that mean Jeezy is off the hook for his lack of lyrical ability? Hell no. Jeezy rhymes about little more than dealing coke, guns, money, and other trappings of his environment. That’s all fine by me, I’m not listening to him expecting to hear his take on politics. What is not okay is that he cannot do what he does well. “Not everyone is as lyrical as Jay-Z.” Yeah, does that mean its ok to be sh*tty at what you do? Clipse and T.I. basically rhyme about the exact same topics as Jeezy, and they do it really fu*king well. So why can’t I say Jeezy only deserves credit for his beat selection? That’s all he does worth a sh*t! Go ahead, call me a hater. Look, I like Jeezy’s album, but I’m not gonna call him a dope emcee or defend him as one because he can make good music. That may make him a good artist, but not a good emcee.
The same goes for Game, these fools got their panties in a bunch because I criticized Game for talking about the same sh*t over and over and over (and over) again on his album. Claiming lowriders, rims, etc are just part of west coast culture. Yes, they are, I know that. Does that mean you need to do little other than reference them for an entire album? No. Does that mean you can do it with no creativity whatsoever and be immune from criticism? No. I love west coast gangsta rap when it’s done well. I grew up on NWA, Dre, Snoop, Cube, Spice 1, Compton’s Most Wanted, DJ Quik etc. Game rarely does it well.
“Blah blah blah Compton, blah blah blah khakis, blah blah blah 100 spokes, blah blah blah chronic smoke, blah blah blah I’ll kill you, blah blah blah lowrider, blah blah blah Dr. Dre, blah blah blah blood, blah blah blah gangbangin”…and so on.
Fill in the blanks and you can create your own verse from The Game. But sometimes he decides to actually use his talent (which he certainly does have), and he makes songs like Ol’ English or Doctor’s Advocate. Funny thing is, he still references his usual topics but he does it with some actual context and meaning rather than just saying sh*t cause its part of his gimmick. Again, go ahead, call me a hater just because I don’t have a homoerotic blind allegiance for him and don’t call everything he does a classic.
Stop making fu*king excuses for mediocrity. “Yo he makes music for the clubs, sh*t doesn’t have to be good.” No! That is no excuse for making sh*tty music. Lyrics in a song made for the clubs can still be good too, look at the sh*t Ludacris makes. Southern Hospitality, Move bi*ch, Stand Up, etc. are dope ass rhymes for a club track. Joc’s rhymes in It’s Goin Down are not. “Oh Joc ain’t lyrical like Luda.” Oh okay, so I’ll just accept that and call him dope because I realize his shortcomings. fu*k that, he’s wack because of those shortcomings, he doesn’t get off the hook because I realize he ain’t no Luda. That is what makes Ludacris a great emcee and Yung Joc a bad one!
“He do what he do,” “he does his thing,” or any other cliché, meaningless statement like that does not excuse someone from criticism. At least I can still enjoy Game or Jeezy’s music even though I know what they don’t do well. I could just be what you all like to call “a hater” and just call everything they do wack because I don’t like something about them. Bottom line is, I give credit and criticism where its due. But I ain’t gonna call someone dope just cause they have good production or sell a lot of records. With the exception of a few rappers who’ve had well deserved commercial success, most folks who blow up do so because they are marketable and can make a catchy song, not because they are in fact talented emcees. Like Jay just said “the game’s fu*ked up/ nigga’s beats is banging/nigga ya hooks did it/your lyrics didn’t/your gangsta look did it/so I would write it/if y’all could get it.” And that is fine! I don’t care that there are sh*tty rappers that make empty, catchy pop music to shake your ass to in the clubs. Not everyone has to spit like Big Daddy Kane. So don’t be so fu*king retarded people, if you like someone’s music but they aren’t gonna take down ciphers, you don’t have to pretend like they will and defend them like they’re your child. sh*t, Vanilla Ice remains one of the bestselling rappers of all-time, but today’s standards that makes him one of the best emcees, cause you know, “he’s hot, he make hits” or whatever the fu*k you wanna say.
A lot, or most, of the rappers that are selling records today are mediocre. Stop lowering the fu*king bar by calling these dudes the fu*king messiahs because they sell records and because their sh*t bumps in your car. And this ain’t no mainstream vs. underground battle, cause throw Eminem, Jay-Z, Nas, Andre 3000, Ludacris, Lupe, etc on a street corner against damn near any underground rapper and you’d witness a slaughter. Just start giving credit and criticism where its due, cause I ain’t gonna let my kids read one day that fu*king Chingy was one of the great emcees of the 21st century.

Eminem divorces wife for second time
Rap megastar Eminem and his high school sweetheart divorced for a second time Tuesday, less than a year after they remarried.
Eminem and Kim Mathers agreed to divide property under terms of a private settlement and to share custody of their 10-year-old daughter, Hailie Jade Scott. They told a judge they understood the divorce was final.
The couple "conducted themselves with dignity and respect," Circuit Judge Antonio P. Viviano said. "All in all, they are a very fine couple to deal with."
Eminem, 34, declined to comment after the brief hearing as two men whisked him into a black Cadillac Escalade. Mathers, 31, did not speak to reporters.
Eminem and Mathers remarried Jan. 14. He filed for divorce April 5. They first married in 1999 in a secret ceremony in Missouri, and divorced in 2001.
Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III, has won nine Grammy Awards, including best rap album, for "The Slim Shady LP," "The Marshall Mathers LP" and "The Eminem Show." He won an Oscar for the song "Lose Yourself" from "8 Mile," the semi-autobiographical 2002 film in which he starred.
